Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Type: 8-Week Contract
Pay Rate: $25 - $27 per hour
Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM (Evening Shift, 5x8s)
We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of surgical trays, instruments, supplies, and equipment. This role requires strict adherence to infection control protocols and precise record-keeping. The technician will also assemble case carts and respond promptly to surgical department requests.
Key Responsibilities:Disassemble, clean, and disinfect instruments and equipment used for patient care utilizing correct manual and mechanical processes.
Operate equipment used in the decontamination process, such as sonic washers, cart washers, washer sterilizers, and decontaminators.
Follow universal precautions when working in the decontamination area (gloves, face shields, protective gowns).
Retrieve reusable instruments and equipment from throughout the facility and transport them to the Sterile Processing Department.
Assemble instrument trays and packs utilizing written instructions and proper protocol.
Check for sharpness and proper functioning of instruments.
Properly apply sterilization wrappers and utilize heat sealers to maintain sterility.
Load sterilizer carriages, select the correct sterilization cycle, and transport trays to the sterilization area.
Accurately document all sterilization information, either manually or via computer systems.
Perform quality control checks, including biological monitoring, and ensure all equipment is functioning properly.
Required:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Central Service or Sterile Processing.
High school diploma or GED.
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification
