Job Summary: National Power is seeking an experienced Solar Technician 3. The Solar Technician 3 is responsible for supporting the Lead Solar Technician with leading the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and crew oversight. This role involves working with various tools and equipment to ensure the efficient and safe operation of solar energy systems. The Solar Technician 3 will work closely with other team members, including electricians, engineers, and project managers, to complete projects on time, within budget and according to safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities: - Assist with leading field crew members in the installation of solar PV systems, including civil, electrical, and mechanical scopes
- Help oversee and assist with trenching, excavation, conduit installation, and backfilling according to project specifications and safety requirements
- Install and inspect DC wiring, module installation, combiner boxes, inverters, and AC electrical infrastructure (including transformer and switchgear installations)
- Read, interpret, and implement construction drawings, schematics, and electrical diagrams to guide field installation
- Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs
- Participate in and conduct daily safety meetings and enforce strict safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and harnesses
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes (NEC, OSHA, etc.), site safety standards, and environmental regulations
Qualifications: - 5+ years of solar installation experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role
- Proven experience in civil construction, especially trenching, excavation, and conduit installation
- Strong technical knowledge of DC systems (string wiring, combiner boxes, grounding) and AC systems (panels, transformers, grid tie-ins)
- Ability to interpret and implement electrical and civil construction drawings
- Solid understanding of OSHA and site safety protocols
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience with managing subcontractors and field labor personnel
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required
Preferred Qualifications: - OSHA 30 Certification, CPR/First Aid Certified
- Experience working on utility-scale solar projects (up to 10MW)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Physical Requirements: - Ability to work at heights on rooftops and other elevated structures
- Capability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain
- Physical stamina to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, up to 75 pounds
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, and maintain balance while working on elevated surfaces
- Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking on uneven surfaces
- Good visual acuity to read technical drawings and manuals, and to perform detailed work
Work Environment: - The role involves working outdoors on rooftops and other elevated structures, which may expose the technician to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind
Compensation & Benefits: - $30.00 - $35.00 per hour. Compensation is based on experience and knowledge of the qualifications

Additional Information: - Criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and MVR required
- This position requires travel to different job sites. Overnight stays may be necessary depending on the project location
- Overtime and weekend work may be necessary to meet project deadlines. The technician should be flexible with work hours and be prepared for extended workdays
