Currently seeking a full-time Recreation Therapy Specialist in Ankeny, Iowa. This role helps to provide engaging, person-centered programming for individuals with brain injuries. Candidates should be organized, compassionate, and strong communicators.

Position Highlights:

• Schedule: Monday-Friday (no weekends, holiday pay available)
• Hours: 8:00-4:30pm
• Location: New Horizons (Ankeny, Iowa)

Responsibilities of the Recreation Therapy Specialist:

• Lead and facilitate daily programming as outlined by the Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
• Promote engagement in meaningful activities that support psychosocial well-being and life skills.
• Provide individualized neurocognitive and neurobehavioral support.
• Implement de-escalation strategies as needed.
• Maintain professional relationships with persons served, families, and team members.
• Collaborate with CTRS on program planning and adapt activities as needed.
• Complete documentation and communicate relevant updates to the care team.

Requirements of the Recreation Therapy Specialist:

• Ability to meet pre-hire criteria (background check and lift test)

Preferred Qualification of the Recreation Therapy Specialist:

• Previous experience working with individuals with neuro diagnoses.
• Associate degree or higher (no degree required).
