Job Overview

Department of Civil & Architectural Engineering & Construction Management at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellow position.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct research in the areas of flood protection infrastructure and advanced sensing technologies for civil and geotechnical engineering.
  • Assist in the development and writing of research proposals for external funding in the areas related to geotechnical engineering.
  • Prepare technical reports and publications; disseminate study results and research findings in journals and conferences.
  • Perform advanced computational modeling using finite difference and discrete element modeling programs.
  • Perform advanced AI/machine learning, and data analysis using MATLAB or Python.
  • Provide technical assistance on related research projects, such as preparing progress presentations and reports for funding agencies.

Required Education

Prior to the effective date of the appointment, a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Required Experience

  • Six (6) journal publications related to computational modeling and/or machine learning related to geotechnical engineering
  • Proficiency in Python in Itasca Software as evidenced by one completed course or certificate
