Job Description
JUNIOR ESTIMATOR (Permanent) Our client, an established MEP contracting company in WNY, is looking to hire a Junior Estimator to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on both industrial and commercial projects, building experience and growing your career.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily responsibilities contributing to the overall success of each project
- Utilize AutoCAD to prepare & review drawings and conduct takeoffs in order to accurately ensure each project’s estimates
- Draft proposals that detail project needs, eliminating any issues for the general contractors
- Visit job site locations to ensure project development plans align with on-site realities
- Collaborate with Sales team members to analyze project data and numbers and accurately create estimates
- Take part in the development of in-house budgets, buyouts, and submittals
- Create and develop relationships with vendors and contractors, gathering necessary engineering data and negotiating pricing on equipment/products necessary
- Work with Engineers to ensure equipment and products are approved for each project
- Attend meetings with internal and external team members to ensure numbers and drawings make sense
- Analyze data and drawings to identify cost-saving opportunities and effectively communicate findings, ensuring full transparency if the project’s scope changes
- Manage several projects at a time, maneuvering from one to the other with ease
- Monitor the status of each project to ensure they remain on schedule according to each specific deadline
- Ensure smooth and efficient project handoffs takes place when transitioning files to the Project Manger
- Work well in a team environment as well as independently
- Other duties as assigned/as necessary
Details:
- Position is full time, direct hire
- 100% in-office/on-site; Mon-Fri 8:00AM – 4:30PM
- $25.00 - $29.00/hour depending on experience; paid mileage
- Experience in AutoCAD is a requirement
- Knowledge of Procore, Construction Exchange, DropBox, & PlanHub are preferred
- Strong mathematical skills are required
- Great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organization skills, analytical, and time management skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
