Marklund is hiring a Full-Time Custodian for our Geneva location!

Marklund is seeking highly motivated and mission-centered individuals for the position of Custodian in Geneva. This is a Full-Time position that has a schedule of Monday - Friday from 12PM-8PM. The hourly rate is $16.25 (with an additional differential of $1 for any weekends worked). Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements.

Who We Are:

Marklund is a nonprofit organization that provides residential, educational and therapy services to infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs.  With three residential locations – the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva, the Marklund Philip Center in Bloomingdale, and the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, it is currently home to nearly 178 residents.  The Marklund Day School offers Multi-Needs and Life Skills programs for children and young adults with multiple medical needs, and those diagnosed on the autism spectrum.  In addition, our Community Day Services program at each site is a therapeutic day program for adults who reside at Marklund and those who come in from the community.

Summary of Duties:

• Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
• Dust and clean furnishings, fixtures and ledges in lobbies, offices and hallways.
• Clean and sanitize sinks and bathroom fixtures.
• Clean windows/mirrors in bathrooms, recreational areas, hallways, entrance/exit ways.
• Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.
• Clean walls by dusting, damp wash, spot cleaning, disinfecting, etc.
• Remove dirt, dust, grease and film from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
• Clean floors including sweeping, dust mop, damp mops and scrubbing floor.
• Clean carpets including vacuuming, spot cleaning and extraction.
• Ensures all OSHA guidelines are followed.

Experience and Skills

Qualifications:

• Must be able to read and write in English
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with floor equipment and cleaning chemicals.
